Protopendence 2024

Protopendence 2024

A tradition like no other, Protopendence rang in the celebration of freedom in August like our forefathers have done for countless generations. Through the power of Letterboxd Proto's private list of categories and movies were once again unearthed to create a setlist of movies so huge, and so exceptional, that no one could have predicted. Insane factoid: all 4 movies from this theme featured a character saying "what a day". Coincidence? Unconfirmed.

1. Gone in Sixty Seconds (2000)

Nicolas Cage AKA Randall Raines AKA Memphis is gonna steal cars so hard and have zero chemistry with Angelina Jolie. What a time, what a movie! We had so much fun talking about this classic blast from the past. It changed us, will it change you?

2. Training Day (2001)

King Kong ain't in this movie, but Denzel Washington puts on a clinic and a 36 hour workshop. His best role? Some villagers said this after watching. Not gonna name names out of privacy (but you can find them pretty easily on letterboxd).
